John MacConnell’s Sunset from the Ferry captures that hush on the water when the boat slips between day and night—the sky still warm, the sea already cool, and the sun caught on the horizon like a held breath. Painted with his loose, responsive hand, the scene feels lived rather than observed: brisk marks in the clouds, a tempered glow across the chop, and the ferry headed to the Grove.
