CURATOR'S
A body at rest that still carries heat. In Reclined, Cole Puetz gives us the soft architecture of a summer afternoon in the Pines: sky-blue ground, towel yellow, the hand pressed into the sheet as if to hold the moment in place. The cropping is tender and decisive—no face, no fuss—just breath, touch, and the warm geometry of skin in light. It’s the Pines without the postcard.
WHY THIS WORK
Cole’s signature restraint—quiet palette, confident drawing—keeps the image honest and close.
That gripping hand anchors the picture; desire is present but unperformed.
A room-changer that stays gentle: perfect for a bedroom or a space that rewards lingering.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cole Puetz is a New York–based artist and perennial Fire Island Pines goer.
