Louis Venturelli (b. 1989)
is an American abstract artist born and raised in New York City. His current series, inspired by museums throughout the world, explores the relationships, impressions, and memories we have with cultural institutions and objects of artistic expression. Through his work, Venturelli employs color and composition to create powerful artistic experiences. Since establishing his practice in 2020, his work has been featured in renowned publications such as Vogue, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal, and has found a notable home in The Moore Hotel located in Chelsea, New York. Venturelli's paintings transcend visual representation, offering a compelling exploration of the enduring dialogue between viewers, cultural institutions, places of queer heritage, and the essence of artistic expression. In June 2024, Venturelli published his first book and photography project, titled In the Pines, which serves as a modern-day record of Fire Island Pines with photographs taken over the last five summer seasons.
